The 4th Dimension of A Picture . 照片中的第四维
The film is projected continuously upon a road or the side of a gas station.
An empty street has no focus and thus the film cannot be seen.
When a car passes by, it becomes for an instant the medium of the film.
The moment of the film and the car that passes are both determined by chance.
The amount of time the car remains in the frame precisely determines the extent of its imprint upon the frame.
Projecting the image upon a scene full of movement blends two or more places and times into a single image.
This emphatically demonstrates the concept of “process photography” and the idea of photography’s “former existence.”
将电影投放在选择好的马路或加油站旁边,不停地进行影片的放映。空旷的马路没有焦点,电影是看不到的。只有当车辆经过时,车身瞬间成为电影播放的载体。电影播放到哪一个片断,以及哪一部车辆经过都是偶然的。车辆在此停留的时间刚好决定它在画面中留下痕迹的深浅。将影像的空间投放到另一个充满动态的实际空间中,就是将两个或者多个空间与时间的片断融合到一张图片上。作品着重表现一个“过程摄影”和“摄影的曾经存在性”。
